PTO Meeting



Meeting called to order at 7:00 a.m.

Approval of minutes by Jessica and 2nd by John Paul (changed amount given to teachers from $100 to $200 – 5th grade promotion / Kindergarten

Members Present: Jessica, Dr. Millins, Chrissy, Paul

Treasurer’s Report:

John Paul gave a report on monies that were spend and monies that were brought in. Treasurer report attached.

 

Old Business:

  • Open House
    1. oDr. Millins provided an overview of the event and why it was on a Thursday versus the Saturday is has been in the past
    2. PTO questioned the amount of food purchased for the event because there was a lot of leftover hot dogs and chips (PTO was requested to increase the allocatedbudget based on a new projected number accounting for the additional families that have joined our school)
    3. Suggestion was made to provide school maps on the back of student’s schedules
  • Boo Hoo Breakfast
    • Suggestion was made to have a pre-recorded presentation from administration that would play on a loop regarding our school, who we are, etc.
    • Overall feedback was positive on the event
  • Laundry
    • Completed over the summer by PTO
    • Cleaned over 1,000 pounds of laundry
    • Cleaning was done at a laundromat instead of asking staff to take home

 

New Business:

 

  • Fall Fundraiser
    • Volunteers needed when orders come in to distribute
    • Kickoff is Friday, August 23rd and runs through September 11th
    • 3different assemblies will be conducted during school for the kickoff
    • Projected goal: $9,000 - $10,000
    • Funds will be used for Sun Shades over playgrounds
    • Teacher incentives will be provided
  • Uniform Room
    • Volunteers needed to fold, sort, and run room
    • Possibly 1 hour time slots minimum
  • Box Tops
    • Transitioning from cutting box tops on products to digitally scanning receipts instead
    • Box Top App – scan right from food product and it goes directly to school account
    • Flyer will be created and sent to parents regarding the App and how it is set up and used
    • PTO will create incentives to promote participation
  • Holiday House
    • Need chairperson to run the event
    • The shop will be open from December 2nd – December 6th
    • Looking at creating a sign up schedule to limit the time it is open in order to get volunteers
    • Not a money maker more of an act of “good will” and teaching moment for kids (budgeting, planning, money, counting back change, etc)
  • Book Fair
    • Need chairperson to run the event
    • Will look at calendar to see if we can pair it with a night even to get more traffic
    • Need volunteers

 

Good of the Order:

  • Volunteer sign up – will see what restrictions the district may have, would like to use Sign Up Genius
