Mrs. Voshell, Vocal Director
Melissa Voshell runs the K-5 General Music program, Elementary Chorus and Orff Ensemble, as well as the Middle School Choral Program. Mrs. Voshell is committed to building a love for music within all of her students through a variety of teaching methods that cultivate creativity, performance technique, ensemble skills and music literacy.
Melissa Voshell has a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's Degree in Flute Performance from Jacksonville University. She has served as a piano accompanist and choir director for several churches and youth organizations in the US and overseas. In 2019 she was voted Rookie Teacher of the Year at West Navarre Primary School.
Mrs. Voshell has been an active member of Mu Phi Epsilon, the Florida Flute Association, MTNA, FMEA, North Florida and Southwest FL Orff chapters. She is a member of the Gulf Coast Symphony (Second Flute) and the Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers (Alto).
About the Program
- The program received an Overall Superior Rating at Choral MPA 2024.
- Four NFMAA Middle School choral students were accepted into an All-State Choir January 2024.
- Approximately a third of the participants in the 2024 MS All-County Choir were NFMAA Choral students
